Houli chats with Mike Meagher, and Joe Ahern of The 100 Club of Chicago on this week’s show!

Hibernian Radio Podcast, Saturday Feb. 23, 2019

McCann’s Irish Oatmeal and Mike Haggerty Buick/GMC/Volkswagen present Hibernian Radio and this week we visit with the inspiration for our new show, Joe Ahern, CEO of The 100 Club of Chicago, along with Mike Meagher, President of the Club. These guys are the good guys. Whenever a First Responder is killed in the line of duty they show up the next day and hand over a check for $50,000 to the fallen hero’s spouse. Not only that, they guarantee that each kid in the family will not have to worry about college expenses. There are currently 30 college educations being handled by The 100 Club, with 77 more kids eligible when they come of age. Why do they do it? Joe says, “I’m trying to get into heaven!” Both Joe and Mike had grandfathers who were cops and both say they’re blessed to be doing this work. Great show with these two guys, telling war stories and some funny stuff about ride-alongs with cops and chaplains. We encourage everybody to be watching out for the families of our First Responders in Lake and Cook counties by donating here. It will come back to you in blessings you cannot imagine. Then it’s time for “Who Died?”, plugs for Irish films coming up, with promo for our upcoming Paddy’s Day Party at Lizzie’s on March 6th with Liam Durkin doing the tunes from 6-8PM. Hope to see youse there! Then it’s off to Houli-Town for our weekly yuks, Brendan Bulger plays some music and thanks to all our sponsors!
