Houli, FF Sterling Ricketts, FF Len Cooksey, and 100 Club CEO Joe Ahern.
McCann’s Irish Oatmeal and Mike Haggerty Buick/GMC/Volkswagen present The Hibernian Radio Hour and we welcome our old friend Joe Ahern, CEO of The 100 Club Chicago to the show. It’s the eve of their 39th Annual Hundred Club Valor Awards and Joe brings a couple of winners with him. We’re honored to salute Firefighter/Paramedic Sterling Ricketts and Firefighter/Paramedic Leonard Cooksey from the North Chicago Fire Dept. on the show and these brave young men tell us their stories of valor. Since 1980 The 100 Club has given this award to those who have gone above and beyond the line of duty. It’s the only civilian award that is permitted to be worn on the uniform in every municipality. The 100 Club has helped 273 families since its inception; there are currently 30 100 Club Scholars. The scholars are the children of fallen first responders who have died in the line of duty. The 100 Club is prepared to assist 81 kids with their higher education, a promise of $5 million over the next 18 years. You can donate to this great organization right here. Houli loses it on the air as he shares some delicious Kerry Gold cheese with the guys and then it’s off to the races in “Houli-Town” with some epic “Who Cares” and goofy jokes and some Van Morrison singing “Spirt Will Provide”. Houli makes a special pitch for all Mt. Carmel alums to join his pals who will be celebrating their 50th reunion with a special “Jackie Casto” bash on The Odyssey for a brunch cruise on Sunday May 5th. Get in touch for special discount tix! Don’t forget to join Houli and Liam Durkin THIS Saturday at 5:30PM at Barney Callaghan’s Pub, 10518 South Western for the info party on their 2019 Trip to Ireland, the craic will be mighty.
