Podcast, Saturday June 15, 2019
McCann’s Irish Oatmeal, Mike Haggerty Buick/GMC/Volkswagen, and Personal Injury Attorney Caroleann Gallagher present Hibernian Radio and we’re thrilled to welcome Caroleann as our newest sponsor to the show. We start off this week thanking Jeff Lange and all our friends in The Emerald Society for inviting Houli into the society and putting on one helluva party last week for their Rib Fest. Then we meet Dennis Boyle, a retired advertising and marketing guru who quit working and moved to Ireland with his wife Dawn, after a ten-day research trip to the old sod, and arrived in Kenmare, County Kerry on July 3rd 2015. Dennis and Dawn took only one suitcase each and discovered that was all they needed. After some bureaucratic nightmares with visas they settled in and made lifetime friends in Ireland. Dawn learned to make Irish lace and Dennis took long walks and became a regular at The Atlantic Pub in town. They were only going to stay a year, but stayed for two, because it “felt like home”. Eventually moving back to the Midwest to be closer to elderly parents, Dennis says, “I miss it!” His stories of the people and his adventures of getting a driver’s license alone would make a great movie. Then we meet the flip side with Caroleann Gallagher. She came to Chicago 11 years ago, fell in love, got married, had two little girls, got her law license and is now one of Chicago’s preeminent personal injury attorneys as a partner at Dwyer & Coogan. Caroleann was born on the island of Aranmore, off the coast of Donegal in a tiny village of only 500 people. She studied law in Galway and Dublin and worked for years as a solicitor in Sligo before taking a “three-month sabbatical to Chicago and never returned”. She met her husband Pat, a Limerick man, in The Three Counties Pub on the northwest side. We’re thrilled to be working with Caroleann as our newest sponsor and hope you get to know her and rely on her if you need a personal injury attorney you can trust.
Then the obits, a final joke and the perfect song for this weekend, “My Old Man”, Happy Father’s Day to all the dads!
