Aisling Ni Fhlaithearta and Houli

McCann’s Irish Oatmeal, Mike Haggerty Buick/GMC/Volkswagen and Personal Injury Attorney Caroleann Gallagher present The Hibernian Radio Hour and this week, we’re taking a step away from our First Responders theme. Our 5th Irish American Movie Hooley opens this weekend and the Producer of “Cumar: A Galway Rhapsody”, Aisling Ni Fhlaithearta is our guest this week. Aisling is a native Gaelic speaker who hails from the biggest of the Aran Islands, Inis Mor, off the Galway coast. She chats to Houli about her family, her time living in Chicago and when she worked in Galvin’s Pub. And now she’s delighted to be back for the American Premiere of her movie! Aisling gives us a detailed look into how this movie came about, how they came up with it’s title and what the critics’ reaction has been to it so far. She gives us some insight into the Macnas Festival that features in the movie and we hear about some of the well-known characters interviewed in it. “Cumar: A Galway Rhapsody” paints Galway in a beautifully inspiring light and highlights it’s love for the country’s rich culture and people. It will be showing at The Gene Siskel Film Center on Sunday 29th September at 5pm. Houli gives us the rundown on the local Irish American News and the recent Obits. And to close out the show, this week, we take a well-needed trip to Houli-Town!
