The Haran Brothers
McCann’s Irish Oatmeal and Personal Injury Attorney Caroleann Gallagher present The Hibernian Radio Hour and this week we look back on another great show from May last year. We’re honored to welcome three of the Haran brothers from the south side of Chicago. These are only three of the thirteen Haran kids and many others are also First Responders, a testament to their mom and dad, both of whom emigrated to Chicago from County Mayo in the ’60s. The brothers are CFD Captain Tommy Haran, CFD Lieutenant John Paul Haran, and Orland Fire Protection Unit Engineer Mike Haran and they are hilarious together. They take us through how each of them came to become First Responders and it’s safe to say the craic is mighty between Houli and these guys!

As they sample some Kerry Gold cheese and have a few brews, the brothers entertain with stories, both scary and funny, and the laughter is infectious! Their road trip story alone, to Boston for a Red Sox game, qualifies them as future guests for non-stop laughs! Houli brings us up to date on the recent obituaries and we play “An Raglan Road” by Luke Kelly for Maeve Burke, the winner of our Facebook caption contest. Houli delves into the interesting history of how that song came about. Our final stop is at ‘Houli-Town’. Want to help during the pandemic? You can help provide meals for our First Responders on the front line by contributing to a 6-day fundraiser via the fundraiser site. Be safe out there, folks, and enjoy another great week of Hibernian Radio!
