Det. Bill Heneghan

McCann’s Irish Oatmeal and Personal Injury Attorney Jim McGing present the Hibernian Radio Hour. As we continue to pay homage to our Irish First Responders, we take a look back at another interview from last summer with Detective Bill Heneghan. We had to continue where we left off with Bill a few weeks prior when we were “rained out” during the first half of his interview. Bill grew up in St. Monica’s Parish and attended Gordon Tech High School – Go Rams! He has been on the force for 23 years, spending 10 years as a Patrolman and he currently works in the 18th District, investigating and solving burglary and robbery crimes. He gives our listeners some simple advice on how to stay safe when using Rideshare apps in the city. This guy has some nail-biting stories to share including one about an Israeli diamond thief whose criminal career came to a sudden halt with Bill’s help. He also describes a ‘Dognapping’ case and explains how he solved it! Houli and Bill talk family and values but mostly share hilarious stories and great banter. Houli brings us up to date on the recent obituaries and we play “The City Of Chicago” by Christy Moore for JP Cleary, the winner of our Facebook caption contest.

Hon. Jim McGing

Our second guest this week is an old friend of Houli’s and Hibernian Radio’s newest sponsor, Personal Injury Attorney Jim McGing, Jim grew up in both the Belmont Central & Edison Park neighborhoods and he attended St. Pat’s High School, followed by DePaul University. Jim’s parents both hail from Tourmakeady in County Mayo and he chats with Houli about his family, especially his 3 boys who are big hockey players, particularly his youngest who was recently signed to the St. Louis Blues! What an achievement! Jim looks back over his professional and personal relationship with Sheriff Mike Sheahan, remembering when he became Mike’s legal counsel and his work in the jails. He also chats to Houli about his time as a judge and how that experience helps him now as a lawyer. Houli and Jim go way back so the craic is mighty between them! Another packed show this week, folks, with more great guests!
