Sgt. Dan Shine and Houli
McCann’s Irish Oatmeal and Personal Injury Attorney Jim McGing present The Hibernian Radio Hour and this week we look back on two great shows from March & November ’19, both with guest Sergeant Danny Shine. Dan grew up in St. Gerald’s Parish, Oak Lawn and attended De LaSalle. Some even call Danny “The Mayor of Mt. Greenwood!” He’s a 23-year veteran of the police force, a Navy veteran, and a proud Southside Irishman. He tells us some great stories from working the Violent Crimes midnight shift and being a part of the Midnight Gang Team from ’05-’08. The guys chat about nights at the 6511 Club and encounters with Horse Keane and Michael Flatley there, Dan is a a member of the Canaryville Veteran Riders Association and The Emerald Society. He also chats in depth to Houli about the discovery of his adoption, his Hemochromatosis diagnosis and reconnecting with his faith. Dan has been to Ireland 15 times and has been blessed with the Blarney! This guy could fill two or three shows with his stories, so we plan on having him return when we get back to everyday life. Houli plays “Four Green Fields” by Tommy Makem for Rick Barrett, the winner of this week’s Facebook caption contest and then it’s over to Obits. We finish off this week with a well-needed trip to ‘Houli-Town!’
