McCann’s Irish Oatmeal and Personal Injury Attorney Jim McGing present the Hibernian Radio Hour. We continue our focus on Irish First Responders and are proud to revisit an interview from the beginning of this year with renowned “Cop’s Cop”, Dave O’Callaghan. Dave, now retired, spent 35 years working as a Chicago Homicide Detective and he wrote a book called “Murder is my life“. He grew up in St. Brendan’s Parish and he tells Houli about his father, a Cork city native. This guy has more stories than you can imagine from his time as a Detective including investigating the ‘Black Stone Rangers’/’El Rukns’ gang, cracking a ‘Murder for Hire’ case with help from an informant and catching the men responsible for stabbing an innocent man to death. He shares some of his favorite interrogation tactics with Houli, the most successful of them being ‘chicken and kindness’. Dave’s book is an incredible insight to the darker side of being a Cop, with many stories from his own personal experience. His book is available here. Houli keeps us up to date with the latest obituaries and he plays “Our Lady Of Knock” by Cathy Maguire for Mike Miller, the winner of this week’s Facebook caption contest. Keep an eye out for the contest on our Facebook page! We end another show this week with a well-needed trip to ‘Houli-Town’. Another gem this week and make sure to tune in next week for a surprise!
