Kev Forrest

McCann’s Irish Oatmeal, Fox’s Pizza, Guinness, the Cork and Kerry Irish Pub and Flood Brothers present the Hibernian Radio Hour. We continue on our Police Pub Tour at The Cork and Kerry Pub on Western Avenue and this week we welcome Kevin Forrest. Kevin grew up in Elmwood Park and works at Lyons Police Department. He began working at Sleepy Hollow before moving to Lyons and talks about how he met Houli through The Emerald Society. He studied at Triton College for 3 years where he received his Associate’s degree and he tells Houli about what he went through to achieve his longtime goal of becoming a cop. It’s safe to say that he has more than his fair share of stories from his time at Sleepy Hollow including the call to round up some stray horses and dealing with an armed perpetrator who was high on cocaine. He also has many stories from Lyons including a double family homicide and recently rescuing a lady who was kidnapped from Texas. Kevin has more than enough stories from his short time on the Force. He chats to Houli about his family, his relationship with the great Jeff Lange and the reasons why he became a member of The Emerald Society Pipe band. You can check out the latest Emerald Society merch here! Kevin also discusses his Irish heritage – his grandparents hail from Dublin and Mayo. The ‘Defund The Police’ movement and the nonsense surrounding it is a hot topic of conversation between these two. “I’m confident in the future of the police after meeting you!,” Houli comments to end another interesting interview. Houli then brings us up to date on this week’s obituaries followed by a musical break with The Saw Doctors’ “Red and Green of Mayo”. Then it’s off to our final stop at “Houli-Town”. You can learn about and donate to our upcoming film, ‘In Search of Weeping Jim’ at the website. Another great show for ya, folks!
