Cathleen Lange

Fox’s Pizza, Guinness, the Cork and Kerry Irish Pub, Flood Brothers Disposal and Chicago Firefighters Union Local 2 present the Hibernian Radio Hour and this week we take a trip back to some of our favorite interviews. The first interview we revisit is with our dear friend and 30 year veteran of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Cathleen Lange. Cathleen grew up in Canaryville and moved to Mount Greenwood where she attended St. Christina’s and Mother McAuley High School. Cathleen is the oldest of 5 and her father was a Police Officer who worked with our very own Skinny. She discusses the reasons why she entered into the Academy and her experience working in an all-male prison. She and Houli reminisce about the infamous Western Avenue and it’s safe to say this lady is a force to be reckoned with! Cathleen takes us through a typical work day at the jail and she shares many stories with Houli including the hilarious and equally embarrassing story of how she came to meet her husband, fellow retired Chicago Officer. Jeffrey Lange – It’s a real love story! Cathleen delves into a discussion about her previous work environment and how it’s a completely different now  “I might look like I’m meek and mild…”, Cathleen remarks when Houli asks her about how she dealt with the prisoners in ‘Intake’. She shares many great stories from her extensive career, one in particular which is a very funny story about an inmate who used to keep light bulbs in a very “interesting” personal place.. “It was all about mutual respect”, Cathleen says referring to her successful career working in a jail. She chats about the last 18 years with her husband, Jeff and how she has been enjoying her retirement. Cathleen shares her take on the current social unrest to end out a wonderful interview. The second interview we take a look back at is with the Managing Director of Specialized Travel Ireland, Derry Cronin, during his visit to Chicago in 2020. Skinny joins Houli for this special show and the 3 lads discuss their upcoming trip to Ireland in July and what they have planned for their time there including attending the Galway Film Fleadh. They share fond memories about their Irish bus driver and tour guide, Philip Duffy. Skinny and Houli also discuss some of their favorite memories from their past trips to Ireland together including the infamous pillow theft incident. The craic is mighty on the show this week with two very special interviewees!
