Dan Burke
Fox’s Pizza, Guinness, Madden Funds and Flood Brothers Disposal present the Hibernian Radio Hour at The Beacon Pub in Forest Park and we welcome back retired 30 year Law enforcement veteran, Dan Burke, to the show for the 3rd time. Dan grew up in Norwood Park where he attended St. Thecla Catholic School. He’s a Gordon Tech graduate and spent some time as a Correctional Officer before joining the force. Dan now works in Private Security and recently set up his own company, Security Professionals Group who mainly work within the Construction Logistics Hospitality Industry. “I’m happy with our team and the people that work with us.” Dan tells the second-hand story about how some other private security guys converted an old F150 into a make-believe construction truck, with used take-out bags and all! He went from working in the jail to working on the street as a patrol officer and later he joined the Narcotics Gang Unit who investigated burglaries and murders. Dan takes a moment to remember his father, Dan Sr., who passed away in 2021 and these two pals discuss his father’s incredible legacy as President of the Emerald Society and founder of the Bagpipes & Drums of the Emerald Society. He retells the great story from when he was 12 years old when he answered his home phone to find Mayor Jane Byrne on the other end looking for his Dad. That call was the beginning of the founding of Pipes & Drums! These two chat about some of their mutual friends such as the legendary PJ O’Dea and they reminisce about certain characters from the old neighborhood. Dan and Houli end this week’s interview with a discussion on the ongoing social unrest in Chicago. “Something has to change.. Improvement is a good thing!” This guy is the real deal with very interesting stories to tell! Houli then brings us up to date on some local upcoming events followed by the recent obituaries and we make a final stop at our favorite place known as ‘Houli-Town’.
