Houli
Fox’s Pizza, Guinness, Madden Funds and Flood Brothers Disposal present the Hibernian Radio Hour at our newest recording location, The Beacon Pub in Forest Park and this week Houli begins by welcoming retired Detective Sergeant Boregard O’Hooligan to the show for his first radio appearance. O’Hooligan worked on the street for over 60 years and he sounds an awful lot like Houli… They definitely have the same sense of humor, that’s for sure! This Chicago legend shares an array of hilarious to downright unbelievable stories with Houli from his long career – what a surprise to have him join us at the top of this week’s show! We take a musical break with the live version of “Carrickfergus” by Van Morrison followed by “The Bold Fenian Men”. Houli goes on to remind our listeners that The Ireland Funds are having their Annual Dinner on November 7th and iBAM will also be kicking off on November 18th where they will be honoring some great folks! Then it’s over to the recent obituaries followed by more music by Van Morrison and Paddy Moloney with their wonderful rendition of “Star of the County Down”. We get an update us on some of the interesting events Houli has attended recently including the recent Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame and he shares his experience as MC at the Emerald Society‘s recent Annual Society Dinner Dance. We take another musical break with Sinead O’Connor & The Chieftains’ haunting rendition of “The Foggy Dew ” followed by an acoustic version of The Coronas’ song called “Just Like That”. Houli takes some time to remember his late dear friend Mary O’Riordain who passed away last month and he shares some of his personal memories of Mary with the listeners. Then we take one final trip to our favorite place known as ‘Houli-Town’ to end a different kinda’ show this week. We look forward to welcoming Guinness Brand Ambassador, Eoghain Clavin to the show next week so be sure to tune in!
