2024 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Queen Grace O’Connor and her Court; Mary ‘Mairse’ Finnegan, Megan Cahill, Kathleen Sullivan, Courtney Cady and Cara Walsh

Fox’s Pizza in Orland Park & Mokena, Guinness, Madden Funds and Flood Brothers Disposal present the Hibernian Radio Hour at our newest recording location known as ‘The Bunker’ and this week we begin the show with the latest segment of ‘Black Irishman’ which tells the story of Seamus O’Hooligan Jr, starring Greg Hollimon. This week we have a St. Patrick’s Day themed show with the 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Queen Grace O’Connor and her Court; Mary ‘Mairse’ Finnegan, Megan Cahill, Kathleen Sullivan, Courtney Cady and Cara Walsh. Grace, Megan and Mairse were all previous members of the Court and the other ladies describe what it’s like to experience all of this for the first time. The girls are located all over Chicago from the city to the south/southwest suburbs and they’ve been keeping busy with appearances since they were ‘sashed-up’. Grace grew up in the city and attended Northwestern. She is a lawyer and this is her 3rd year taking part in the competition  Most of the girls have careers in Law as well as other impressive fields with Courtney describing herself as a ‘Professional Matchmaker”. Both she and Megan are on the Board of the Irish Fellowship Club and Megan explains how they juggle work with their Court duties. Mairse’s parents are good pals with Houli and she dives into discussing how people’s perception of the competition has changed over time. These legendary ladies did the recent Polar Plunge and they mention some of their upcoming commitments including taking part in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and attending golf outings and other fundraisers. The importance of friendship, developing strong public speaking skills and the inner workings of how the event is executed are just some of the insightful topics discussed this week. Houli then brings us up to date on upcoming events including The Emerald Society’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on Saturday 16th at the Local 399 Operating Engineers Hall. Then we head over to the recent obituaries followed by a quick joke to end a very special show this week!
